It's unquestionable!  The Internet is here to stay.  Learning to create and maintain web pages is a critical skill of today and future.  There are many tools available to build websites. This year we will be using an affordable tool that you can purchase for your child. 

Objectives - In this course, your child will create his/her own "Family web page" or, perhaps a page designed to sell your child's hand-made items. 

What to Bring - If you decide to create a Family web page, please give your child pictures that you would like to place on your site.  Pictures may be physical photographs or files on disk/USB membory stick.  You may want to include pictures of your home, your backyard, your pet, and of course each family member.  You can also give this interview sheet to each family member to personalize their page.

If your child is entrepreneurial and wants to create a website to sell products or perhaps, services to your community, please discuss the possibilities and have your child come in with an idea for his/her website. 

Hosting Your Website - Digital Arts Camp will temporarily host your child's website under our web address, but if you would like to have your own domain name and hosting (www.mydomain.com), then you will want to purchase the domain name and hosting space.  We recommend using BlueVoda, because it is the FREE web development tool that we will be teaching in our class.  They also offer hosting plans for about $10.00/month (or even less, if you sign up for 3 years).  To learn more about BlueVoda, see their Free Website Builder - You will love it!.
